New Frontiers in the Discovery and Treatment of Thrombosis

Organized by Jane E. Freedman of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Bruce Furie of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Dietmar Seiffert of Merck & Co., Inc., the three-day conference will:
• Gather hematologists, cardiologists, cell biologists, pharmacologists and coagulation/platelet experts for an in-depth examination of the mechanisms of thrombosis;
• Understand how fundamental mechanisms regulating vascular disease modulate coagulation and explore how these processes influence platelet-dependent thrombosis and vessel wall interactions;
• Encourage a broader consideration of the complex interactions between thrombosis and coagulation and of the whole system including immunity and inflammation, with the goal of developing better future clinical solutions.
